About Us
Static Dynamics has provided innovative ESD Products and Services to the Electronics Manufacturing Industry since its founding in 2002.
It all began when Scott Newman made a better way to test ESD floors by developing and patenting the Static Cruiser(TM). His over 20 years of experience setting up ESD protection systems at Intel, Laughlin Wilt Group and Viasystems taught him the importance of ESD floors to electronics manufacturers’ bottom line. Existing systems for testing floors were awkward and inefficient. Scott developed the Static Cruiser in his garage and it proved an immediate improvement and became the basis of Static Dynamics.
While acting as a consultant he became aware of problems with ESD protection that his customers were experiencing. Grounding carts and racks was a laborious task. He designed the ESD Clip as a simple, fast, and low cost solution. The ESD Clip remains a top selling product for Static Dynamics.
Since 2002 Static Dynamics has grown to include many new products. Scott currently holds 3 patents and has recently filed for a fourth. Current or recent customers have grown to include Teledyne-FLIR, Biotronik, Intel, Jabil, L3, and BAE among many others. Service and customer satisfaction remain the emphasis at Static Dynamics with innovation at its core.

Scott Newman brings over 25 years of high tech manufacturing experience from companies such as Intel, Laughlin-Wilt Group, and Viasystems. At Intel, he was responsible for installations, preventive maintenance, calibrations, troubleshooting, and developing performance modifications on automated circuit board assembly and test equipment in Hillsboro, Puerto Rico, and Singapore. He also participated in the initial installation of ESD protection for Intel systems manufacturing. Scott was one the five founding team members of Laughlin-Wilt Group, a successful and high growth contract electronics manufacturing company that started in Beaverton, Oregon and grew to a $100 million multi-state operation before being acquired by Viasystems in 2000. At Laughlin-Wilt Group, he planned initial business strategies, start-up, and expansions and served as Process Engineer, Information Technology Manager, and Facilities Manager. He was instrumental in developing many processes and systems that allowed the company revenue to double almost every year for several years.
He has received three and recently applied for an additional patent in the area of ESD for devices that reduce costs and improve the quality of ESD compliance. Additionally, Scott has developed many other products and developed process improvements to improve quality, reliablity, and productivity. Scott holds an A.S. in Electronics Technology from Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, Oregon and a B.S. in Economics from Portland State University. |
